Hello I don't post a lot here. I am new and I do not have whole lot of Meteorlogical knowledge. But I was wondering where can I look up past radar loops and storm velocity loops for past storms? I Like the Data I can look up with NCDC from Noaa. But I don't like the colors the storm relative Velocity uses. I don't think there is any way of changing the colors with the program NCDC gives you. If there is I am not sure how.

If there is any other ways to bring up past radar data I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Cody Pryor

rap.ucar.edu has a radar loop that you can use. go to "real time data" and then "radar" but it only goes back 5 days. also, if you look up specific events on wiki, they normally have a radar loop or something like that.

I've found that the absolute best way to do this is with Level II NCDC HAS data (as mentioned above) together with GRLevel2. Each file in a Level II collection is a set of products for a specific time, whereas each file in a Level III collection is an individual product for a specific time, and that can get real messy. GRLevel2 is done really well to where it's easy to loop a set of radar data and animate/step through any product with a minimum of fuss.

I only recommend Level III data if smaller files and just specific products are needed.

Well I don't have GRlevel2 but have been highly considering on purchasing it. Not to get off topic but does it have the gps available on it like Grlevel3 does?

Any ways thanks guys I really appreciate the quick response to my query. Any further suggestions are also welcome!!!

Thanks Again,

I don't think GR2 has all the bells and whistles of GR3, but I might be mistaken. GR2 handles all this so well that I've been chucking out all my saved Level III data and replacing it with the Level II sets.

Cody,

The new StormLab 4.0 Supercharged can easily process both L2 and L3 data from the NCDC HAS server. Loop, zoom, pan, sample, create/upload images, or whatever you'd like with archived or live data. www.interwarn.com

If you have any questions, let me know.

Cody, just to add to what Evan said:
I have been running StormLab for quite some time and I am very pleased with it.
Not only can you process L2 and L3 data very easly but you also have all the "goodies" including GPS config.
It has worked great for me and was a great tool for our show.
