• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Hey all,

So what are all the methods we can use to turn storm chasing into a profit? I mean we could make chase touring services or sell our footage but with any hobby, there has to be more ways to flip it for revenue. What have you all done in relation to storm chasing and earning a profit from it? What sort of occupations could we make out of storm chasing?

What do you all think?

I think we should charge people to post on Stormtrack. $10 a post. Then give all the money to me. :p

Create a laser that warms the inflow coming in to a supercell, so the likelihood of tornadoes forming increases. Or vice versa, create a liquid nitrogen dispersion system that chokes inflow, so tornadoes never form. Then make cities pay outrageous money to save them or destroy their neighbors. Lol, see how stupid this thread is.

I'd like to build a huge tornado simulator that I could tow around and charge all the chasers that wanted to drive through it while waiting for initiation. Or better yet, after a blue sky bust.

to have slightly more realistic way to turn a profit on storm chasing or turning it into a career. Think of something that hasn't been done, write a hypothesis, "SUCCESSFULLY" test the hypothesis and collect useful data to strengthen your reason, submit your hypothesis and hopefully it gets accepted and you now have a budget to storm chase. But there is probably a very slim chance that could happen.

Get a Cafe Press site, and develop lots of cool designs for people to buy.

Or...

Create a NPO (non profit) and write off your expenses. No moneymaking, but you break even. It's a lot of work, though, and you need a board of directors for most types.

Maybe even...get into public speaking about storm safety. Write a book or few.
