Jason Kapera

Hello,

I'm new to this site and wanted to introduce myself to everyone. I'm Jason who lives in Portales, NM.

I grew up in Northwest Indiana for 26 years and moved to New Mexico to relocate with my job. I then accepted another job in the area and decided to stay down here for a little longer.

As far as weather goes - I simply love it. When it storms, rains, or snows, I'm watching it out my window. I bought a weather station 3 years ago and put a website together (it's still up but the site is down) at www.hobartweather.net. Many of my family and friends went to it when any bad storms came abouts. When I moved I brought my station with me and started up another domain called www.clovisweather.net.

Four months ago I left Clovis and moved to Portales and since then I haven't put my station back up nor got a new domain for the site.

Why am I here? Simple - to meet other weather spotters, fans, etc. Also maybe one day go with them to chase storms and to talk about them. (Nothing like meeting people who are in the same likes as you are.)

Well, time for homework, but I just wanted to say hi to you all and hope to be part of this group more and more as time goes on. :-)

I am honored to be the first to welcome you to Stormtrack. This is definitely the place to meet other fellow chasers, photographers, spotters, weather watchers, etc. You will find many informative posts such as chase logs with photos, weather forecasts for storm chasing possible targets and even Nowcasts discussing current weather basically all around the world. You will also come to find many posts about debate, favorites, and much more.

Looking forward to chatting with you about weather and everything else on the forum here. Don't forget to read all the rules posted for each forum. Take care...

Welcome Jay, it looks like you have found the right place. This is not directed toward you, but I thought Stormtrack was keeping the real name username policy. Did this get changed recently?

Portales......Portales......hmmmmm where do I remember that from? ;)

Hey Jason! Welcome to Stormtrack. You are definitely in the right spot to get involved in severe weather discussions and chase tactics. I live in Amarillo, so if you're ever in the area, get in touch with me and we can meet up and talk weather!

Gerrit Gulden - Thank You so much Gerrit. I saw the forum 2 months ago and bookmarked it on my Blackberry but didn't signup yet. So I finally did and it seems i'm going to like it here.

Craig Maire II, MatthewCarman, Shane Adams, Paul Austin - Thanks so much! I have a lot of catching up to do and learning of how the board is organized. heh heh

Skip Talbot - No the policy didn't change. I got an email from the moderator asking me for the full name so they can change it. I knew that this was the policy but somehow I missed it at the register process. I was probably in a hurry and didn't think about it. Thanks for the welcome though. I appricate it! :-)

Karen Leszke - LOL! Wow. That is a nice picture. Where about's is that at and when was it taken??

Jason Boggs - That's what I was hoping for. Someone to talk to about Weather. I have a friend back in MI who chases storms with a crew but he's all the way up there and I'm all the way down here.

I can't wait to get my weather station back up and running and start my website back up. I miss it. :-( When I do I'll announce it on here so you all can check it out.

I remember that earth eater Karen, chased it right through Portales and right on down nearly to home west of Lubbock. Dropped a brief tornado after dark in Portales.
