most HiDef vid cams now do 1080 full HD, but ...
is it still possible to find an affordable videocam that does HD 720 , instead of FHD 1080 ?
IDEALLY
I would like to see a videocam that records in HD 720,
h.264 .mov quicktime files
at 24p or 25p or 30p .
on SD / SDHC cards ( not on tape, not on HDD, maybe flash okay )
with optical image stabilization
manual controls for exposure ( not just quickbutton overexpose for backlight situations but also UNDERexpose for dark dramatic sky scenes )
manual infinity lock ( full manual focus not needed, I almost always shoot in infinity, and infinity lock is needed when there is low light and low contrast )
viewfinder ( not just screen )
stereo sound ( though I would prefer a good mono mic over a bad stereo mic )
good low light rating.
my thinking is that a 720 HD video is good enough, I don't need 1080FHD, and the files are smaller in size and easier to handle and edit on a small netbook and easier/faster to upload to youtube or ftp to media.
some bridge or hybrid photocams also record video just like above specs, but in the example of my Casio Exilim EX F1 there are two things that are missing : yes the EX F1 has image stabilization but it only works when shooting in photo-mode, not in video-mode. And it is not good in low light ( lots of noise ).
suggestions ?
