i know there has been a thread or two about this before..... but right now i am looking at the omaha radar and the image is from 752 am this morning, in other words right now its 2.5 hrs old!! i don't think i have ever seen the radar image this old. i was under the impression that the problems w grlevel3 not updating in a timely fashion was during high traffic times, but this shouldn't be a high traffic time. actually now as i look at other sites, the radar times are all showing around 750 am this morning. anyone heard of any problems going on with grlevel3/radar issues?

There's big thread on their forum. NWS is replacing the server but having problems. Gr3 is 100% operational still.

thanks for the quick info guys! i always forget about their forums;) my radar is back up to date. it of course "fixed" itself about 10 minutes after i started this thread!

I'm Glad I finally bought my subscription to Allison House! Definitely pleased with not having any update issues!:D

I have been having trouble with my GRLevel3 for quite some time. I don't know what is wrong. If you click on Start Archiver it will help to a degree. Mine counts down to one min. then restarts again at one min. I have GRL3 on my office computer and on my laptop both are doing the same thing.
Anybody outhere got a fix?

I agree! Aside from my new laptop my best upgrade this year was subscribing to Allison House for data. I never had serious data issues using NWS servers in the past but this year the problems were persistent in nature and numerous in occurrence. Since switching to Allison House delays are minimal and very infrequent. Not only is their product reliable it also includes additional features to integrate with GR3 that I find very useful. I highly recommend them and for the cost it's a great bang for the buck.

I do know GRlevel3 was down for a bit yesterday

For the love of....

GR3 was not "down" yesterday. It is not a server, it is software on your computer. If you weren't able to run it yesterday, it was due to a problem with your setup. If you couldn't get data yesterday it was due to a problem with your data provider, not GR3.

GR3 ran fine yesterday on my PC for a while then quit updating. A bit later it started back up with up dated information. It was my data provider that was down I guess (I am using the default provider)

That's the point. People will come in here and say that "GR3 is down." GR3 is working fine. The problem lies in the data feed getting to your copy of GR3, which comes from one of two sources: public (NWS) or private (such as AllisonHouse). If you are not receiving radar data in any version of GRLevelX, 99% of the time it's an issue with the incoming data feed.

This is the equivalent of someone saying, "Firefox is down," when they don't have an internet connection. Other people then turn around and start to badmouth good products and complain to the wrong people about getting it fixed. Every time there is a data problem with the Level 3 feed this comes up.

Imagine the furor from the likes of your random iPhone owner when they download a radar app and "it doesn't work". They start dropping 0 stars and bad mouthing the product. When in fact the time they tried the app the NWS servers were down.

It's like the app devs need to pop a window that says: "Radar didn't download...complain to your congressman...not us"
