I was about to go to bed and after a quick glance at the composite radar image from the main NWS site I noticed a few gravity waves across OK/TX...
Here is an Infrared Sattelite image from roughly the same time. It's obvious that the gravity wave is producing enough lift for clouds, if only the environment was slightly less CAPed this night would be even more interesting.
Has there been any research into how these form? From my understanding they are no more than pressure perturbations but I'm more interested in how they form and propagate.
