• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

GR2AE Custom Radar File

This file contains the new Missouri X-Band radar, the operational South Korea 88D, and the Norman testbed radars. Save it to your harddrive, remove the .txt (so it ends in .gis), run GR2AE, drag the file into the radar window and drop it. You may need to refresh your server in the configuration section.

I'm sorry you had to add .txt to the file name in order to upload it Rob. Maybe we could add .gis files to the allowed file types list since they are/were found on GRLevelXStuff before, and I believe they're on Mike Gibson's customer forum IIRC. Let me check it out and we'll see if it's doable.

I'm having a problem doing this. When I drag the customradars.gis file into GR2AE and refresh my server connection, nothing happens. None of the new radars show up or are able to be selected. When I put the new radars into the radar.gis file within the GR2AE folder, I am able to see the new radars on the map and can select them. However, when I start polling no data is able to be downloaded. GR2AE acts like it is downloading data correctly but no scans of any level or product are available. All of the other usual radars work fine.

Make sure you click the Refresh button for each and every data feed you have configured. I tested MZZU with the AllisonHouse, Iowa State, and Missouri State feeds and they all worked for me.

As far as why the custom radar file isn't working I don't know.

I also was not able to get it to work using the drag and drop method.

To get this to work on my system I had to manually add the text data to the radars.gis file inside the GIS/ directory in my GRLevelX folder. Then yes, make sure to refresh your feeds in the "configure polling" settings. You'll also probably have to restart the program.

That works too but be aware whenever you do an update to 2AE it'll wipe that out. On the other hand - I think these will be permanent enough that he'll include all but the Norman testbeds.

Just updated my GR2_v2 from 2.21 to 2.22 and it did not wipe out my changes. I'm not sure if this is significant, but I made a customradars.gis file in the GIS/ directory, and I made the actual changes to the radars.gis file within that directory. I see another radars.gis file in the root directory for GRLevelX, but changing that didn't work for adding the radars.

I added the .gis file extension to the whitelisted file types for both attachments and in the Resources section of the forum. I removed the .txt extension and am uploading the file again for anyone who is still interested in adding it to their GR2AE options, and who don't want to fiddle with renaming it. Not to steal Rob's thunder but to simplify file sharing in the future for everyone.
