A massive wildfire is currently, as of 2am, scorching the iconic town of Gatlinburg in eastern Tennessee. This is absolutely heartbreaking for those in the area, as well as the millions who have visited this incredibly beautiful and heartfelt little town. Many of the cabins surrounding the town have burned to the ground, and some of the downtown area including a 16 story hotel are on fire.
Rain from the system moving through the area seemed to do little to limit the blaze.
@Adam Lucio shared this video on Facebook by Michael Luciano which really shows the incredible blaze. It shows two men and a dog during the evacuation and their incredible experience. Caution here as there's a quite a bit of language in this short video, but it really puts it into perspective.
This town is in desperate need for help, and not many national networks have been covering it at all tonight. Here's an article that at this time is a few hours dated, but the Chicago Tribune seems to be the only source I can find covering it at anywhere near a national level.
