• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Funnel or scud?

I was looking through some old photos, and I found what may or may not be a funnel. It looks like it, but back then, I didn’t know too much about weather back then so I couldn’t confirm rotation, (but there may have been), and stupid me didn’t record. Can you guys help me out to tell whether it’s funnel or just some scud or weird looking cloud? Date is June 19th, 2021 and location is Monument, Colorado. I have attached below the SPC outlook for that day, a picture of a storm that occurred 40 mins earlier, and the potential funnel. Thanks in advance!83D4E2DE-14D9-4D2B-B7B5-85D2EFA82F89.jpeg5CD483DD-D862-4503-9324-043B3533771D.jpegE3A344A7-7CB2-43B8-86F4-E5263342E9D4.jpeg

Gotcha. I figured if it was a funnel, it was a non-tornadic circulation, as I don't remember any warnings that day. I put the SPC outlook there to give a reference of how favorable it was for thunderstorm and supercell formation.

Funnel cloud or just a funn...y cloud?!

There were two storms in Monument (45 mi south of Denver) on June 19, 2021.

The first one around 1:30 pm (local time) and the second one around 6:15 pm.

I checked the reports for that day and that area.
At 2:05 pm there was one mPING report of pea-sized hail 5.5 mi east of Monument.

[mPING = meteorological Phenomena Identification Near the Ground; mPING is a project of NOAA National Severe Storms Laboratory and the name of a crowdsourcing weather reports app.]

According to Texas Storm Chasers website: "Funnel cloud, hail, lightning, storm structure and wind from storms near Last Chance, Colorado to McCook, Nebraska! A little bit of everything on June 19, 2021."
[Last Chance is 74 mi east of Denver]
