Finally a direct DC power adapter for the MagSafe connectors. Luckily saw this in Macworld Magazine. Hefty price though. The DC to 17V DC adapter is 150 and if you want, shell another 100 for a external battery, and more for a bigger battery.

Made by Hypermac.

Boy i've been waiting for this for such a long time. I have fried way to many wires and fuses waiting for this. This is definitely on my 2010 must get equipment.

On that note, has anyone here seen a direct DC adapter for Dell laptops? Not an inverter, but an actual DC to DC plug. Or would that be risking frying the computer?

I've had an alternative model magsafe adapter for about two years now in my vehicle. Why Apple hasn't made one, I have no idea. Glad to hear that there's some competition though...

Ryan - This company has the best DC adapters bar none:

Hopefully your Dell model is listed there somewhere. I bought a pure sine wave inverter then happened upon a thread about DC adapters. I have both now from Lind and the inverter is in the box collecting dust!
