• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Florida's push for tornado sirens

In the wake of the Feb. 2nd killer tornadoes, the state of Florida has promised that before this decade ends, ALL Florida counties will have tornado sirens. This is kind of odd to many, but for ones that have seen what have happened, and went thru it, it couldn't make more sense. Florida has a high number of tornadoes, although most are weak. Yesterday on my way into work, I noticed 3 poles on concrete pedistals around base. I can proudly confirm , NAS Jacksonville has tornado sirens, the were just mounted today, with the computer and all the electronic boxes ready to be mounted tomorrow. They are Federal Signal Modulators and are of different size. The one by the hospital has 4 (disks), the siren behind the galley has 5, and the one by our building has 3. I find it kind of interesting and funny, I wish they'd put the activation button in our office, hell, we'd test it everyday. I'm anticipating the day they test these babies, time to hurt some ears, I'm used to them, I have family in Moore, Oklahoma afterall.

Justin, does that mean we'll get the siren tests every now and then? That would be cool, Ill feel like Im on the plains, in sunny, hot, humid Florida!

Upon research, it is up to each individual county to buy the sirens. Many of the Panhandle counties and central Florida, as well as NE Florida are seriously considering purchasing tornado sirens. IDK when the sirens will be operational, I seriously doubt these are just lightning warning sirens, because they would've had these a long while back, or, they are multi-purpose, which is a big case. We already have sirens that alert you to the raising and lowering of the flags, so I'm positive these are for tornadoes.

They tested our new sirens earlier today, all I got to say is, what a show. The looks on peoples faces from the air spliting waling noise was too funny. I just kept on walking, I literally saw some people double over in pain, I swear, they better get used to it. That sound really makes me miss home:)
