In a recent issue of Eos, I see that the International Hurricane Research Center is now building a new "Wall of Wind" which will generate category 5 or 160 mph winds for modelling effects on full scale structures. Although it cannot cover the wind speeds of the most intense tornadoes, it does cover most and is enough to destroy many if not most houses. The complexities of tornadic vortex winds aren't modelled either, but it's the first time (at least in the US) this has been done and should make for some very interesting results.
