• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

if anybody could help someone lacking basic tech savvy I would appreciate it. Every time I want to post a picture to a thread I get a message that says “The uploaded file is too large for the server to process”.
I’m only trying to post pictures that are on my phone so i’m confused as to why it doesn’t work.

I attempted to upload a 3.5 megabyte PNG image of a sounding to insert into a post awhile back. It gave me the file too large message as well. I'm guessing that the photo images from your phone are larger in size than that.

Thank you. Do you know if there is a way to make the file size smaller?

I often use Irfanview, a freeware software program that is an image viewer/manipulator. There's a function to resize the image (you know from something like 5000 x 3000 pixels to something like 1500x900, or whatever), then save it to another filename and the file size should be considerably smaller. It also has a image quality setting in the File Save As choice where you can decrease the quality, but I usually don't use that very often.

I'm not sure what the file size limit is for this forum.

Thank you, I’ll try it out. It just seemed odd to me that I couldn’t post a simple cell phone picture. Not a surprise as most 8 year olds are more tech savvy than me...

The Stormtrack staff is looking into increasing file size limits for attached files. HOpefully we will have an update for you within a few days.

The forum's file size limit is supposed to be 5 MB. If you are getting the "file size too large" message when uploading a file smaller than 5 MB, then there is a problem somewhere that we need to look into.
