• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Thought this would make for an interesting discussion / poll. Seeing as how we're getting into the heart of the chase season, and it's already been a great one at that (no jinx), what is your preference as far as down time?

In other words... everyone needs a break once in a while. 15 years ago, I guess I wanted to chase EVERY day. Nowadays, I'm hoping for some rest in between the quality chase days. I'm curious if age has any relation to the answers in this poll and written replies.

For better clarification, let's say we're classifying a chase as MORE THAN 350 MILES ROUND TRIP. Local "popcorn" events would skew the results. In other words - this is an all-day event, not just a short drive.

So, pick your poison and explain your answer(s):

Ain't that the truth! I figure 350 was fair, but should be 500.

For me, maybe it's age, maybe it's just that I've been blessed to have seen a lot over the years, but now... I just need some rest. My idea of a perfect severe weather season would be a quality system about every 3-5 days.
Wishful thinking, yeah. Seems like it's always feast or famine!

Oh well, at the end of the day, I'll sure take a year like this versus the past couple, that's for sure !!!!

Anything less than 400 miles IS a short drive! :D
Amen. I voted number 2 above primarily because I could not afford number 1. Truth be told, from where I live now, I could not afford number 2 either. I gave an answer as if I didn't have to drive 1500 miles just to get to the plains. If money were not an issue, I'd fall somewhere between 1 and 2. Everyday would be great for a while, but eventually, I'd want to get in some fishing :) .

Quality, not quantity - I need a few days rest!

Now that I'm in my late 40's and given that I just chase lightning sometimes till wee hours of the morning.. and have a day job! I need more rest then I use to. So I from time to time if it's a pretty weak storm and we have had a few storms close together, I may skip it.
