I don't know where else to post this. So I guess I'll just ask this here. Apparently, we are not allowed to discuss possible upcoming weather events in the weather in chasing threads, because it is considered a forecast. However, we are not allowed to post in the forecast and nowcast threads, either, unless it is within 7 days. So if we would like to talk about something that is further than 7 days out (just for the sake of talking about weather), where do we post our discussion?

If the moderators would like to keep the weather and chasing forum and the forecast forum free of clutter, would it be possible to have a new separate threads section for weather discussions beyond 7 days out?

Brandon, that is a good question and unfortunately I don't have an answer. Hopefully someone can step in and give you an answer. Maybe Tim can create an area for posting forecasts over 7 days out, I just don't know.

Discussion of potential chase events farther than 7 days out CAN be discussed in Weather and Chasing. This is because it generally considered that severe weather events are rarely forecastable with any precision beyond the 7 day time frame (aka wishcasting).

Once it becomes within the 7 day or less time frame, discussion needs to move to (or be started in) a more formal FCST thread. Any discussion threads about the event in W&C at that time will be shut down.

This is how we have allowed it in most recent years. This of course applies to severe weather events only and not hurricanes or winter, which have their own areas.
