Digicam vs. Wind Noise

Probably a dumb question but is there anything I can apply to or cover a digicam microphone to quell wind noise without muffling sound altogether? I thought about maybe using a small piece of felt to cover the hole but before making an attempt, wondered if you have any ideas.

I've experienced the same issue where you have a gusty south wind blowing into the mic and making an awful sound on the video. It seems like most microphones have a porous foam material over the tip where you 'speak into the mic'. I think felt might work, as long as it isn't too dense and the sound can get through like it does with the foam material you usually see.

If the hole isn't too big you could go to Radio Shack and get the foam windbreakers they make for their lag mics. They should be big enough to cover the hole. I believe they have 3 to a pack. Might have to slice it up a little. They also sell bigger ones for handheld mics.

Not dumb i was wondering the same thing. Too many videos need the wind deafing option. You want to hear some wind to show strenght but not to the point it's the whole video.

I was trying to think of a way to kill the wind noise too. All of my video from yesterday is horrible unless you play it on mute. Mic wind noise gets old fast.

I tried to fashion some sort of mic protector with some foam and tape and although it worked a bit, and I mean a bit, it was a bit of a pain having to restick it. There's gotta be some solution for this that is more effective. I'll be trying either foam and glue or is there a small microphone that you can plug in to your camera that would normally be used for clipping onto your shirt? That is one of my main things that I've got to get fixed for this year so anything anyone could advise, there's probably quite a few people that would benefit from it!
