Delta 191 Was 26 Years Ago Today

Greg Story sent me an email a little while ago reminding me that Delta 191's crash -- the watershed event in the field of microbursts and aviation -- was 26 years ago today. For those under the age of about 45, microburst-related commercial airline crashes used to occur in microbursts about every 18 months. We have now all but eliminated them.

I believe recently there was a pilot who tried landing ahead of that big haboob in AZ. I think he aborted due to the shear alarms activating.
