Ok so lastnight i took some of my first lighting pictures I want 2 post them on here for people to see but I want to copyright them first. My question is do I have to post the copy right on the photo and if I do how do I do that?

Not a law expert... but if my memory serves me correct, they're implicitly yours and yours only if you can prove you are the owner.

(you shouldn't have to officially file anything to settle a dispute)

This is correct, as long as you can prove (beyond a doubt) that you are the original author/creator of the work, then there should be no issue asserting a copyright claim. It is, of course, recommended that any published or mass distributed works be registered to avoid any legal issues.
