• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Comprehensive List of Level II Feeds?

I know that Iowa State has a Level II data feed for free, but which is susceptible to overloading on significant days, and Allisonhouse has the more robust feed for a monthly fee. Are there any other alternatives or does someone have a comprehensive list available?

Thanks, Jeff and Brian. Just out of curiosity, with a feed like NOAA or ISU, would a potential congestion-caused slowdown be radar site specific? For example, if a ton of folks were pulling the feed for Amarillo but I were interested in Tulsa, would a slowdown affect Tulsa as well?

I am going to try the 21 day trial of GR2A to see if I want to invest.

Any latency you experience if any would be server side and not from a specific radar site unless that site is experiencing technical issues or has latency issues between the site and the server which is also possible but, that won't be load specific. For providers like AH and Iowa they have redundancy measures in place to handle load balancing for latency issues. I am sure NOAA does too but, with their budget I am not sure of the quality of their infustructure compared to the other providers.

I realize it's expensive, but you'll definitely want to invest in GR2Analyst. Take advantage of the trial period, of course, but you should definitely go ahead and pull the trigger with the purchase IMHO.

Also, here's a couple of sites you can use to pull up older radar volume files. I personally prefer the Amazon site. Their archive goes back to the 1990's. The UCAR site only has the last 7 days. You can't live-poll with either of them, but they are near realtime. Just download the files one-by-one and drag-and-drop them onto GR2Analyst.
