Do we have any Canadian meteorologists in the house?
I've identified 43 stations in Canada whose identifiers were reassigned to completely new places during the 1990s. The United States documents its reassignments quite well (e.g. AUS Mueller to Bergstrom, DEN Stapleton to International, etc), but in Canada it's a black hole on when its transitions took place. For example, WFJ was used for Estevan Point in the 1970s, for Elbow in the 1980s, and is now being used for Cardston. What a mess.
I've been able to figure it out partially with a copy of the 1988 METSTAT table, the 1992 FAA Location Identifiers, and a few METSTAT tables from 2003-2006, but nothing in between.
It's a long shot but I thought I'd check with you all in case anyone's got any interesting references about this. Even a 10-20 year old FAA Location Identifiers book would help. If not I'll keep looking.
