• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

camera question: changing CF card

In the manual of my Canon camera it is written that once my CF card reaches 9999 pictures, I have to change it for a new CF card.
However, the manual also states that it is possible to format a CF card.
Question: is it possible to format my CF card and use it again?

Simply use your camera's 'format' or 'delete all' function. I'll bet camera just starts over at 0000 when it reaches 9999. There's absolutely no reason the CF card will stop working.

I went to a Nikon school last year and what the guy was saying about formating CF cards is to format often after you are done shooting. Say you have a card that holds 300 or 400 pics, even if you take 150 or so and download the pictures to you computer, delate the pics then use Windows to format the CF card once you put it back in the camera (well for Nikons) it is ready to go. Formating a CF card will not hurt it at all.

Just be aware that the Image filename count will reset to Zero - don't overwright all your images when you copy them to your laptop.

Actually, I would not trust keeping 9999 images on ANY flash card - best back them up to your laptop / pc / server /DVD sharpish!

I'm scared to admit going over the 9999 mark a few times with cameras....and no big deal. Never any issues other than what Stuart mentioned. I have a system down to avoid that, so just be aware of it.
