Last year West Virginia had 10 tornado's and in 2013 there were 0.The myth about mountain tornado's is busted because of a tornado in Raleigh County. It was on October 7 2014.It was an ef2 was on the ground for 3 miles and was 150 yards wide.It touched down at an elevation of between 2,700ft-2,800ft.People in West Virgina think that the mountains protect them from a tornado. It doesn't matter what state you are in you can get tornado's if the conditions are right.West Virginia may not get the ef5 out in the great plains but they do get up to ef2 in damage.Last year they got 8 ef1 tornado's 1ef0 and the ef2 in Raleigh county. The Shinnston tornado in 1944 killed over 100 people and it was estimated to be an ef4.
