Boltek StormTracker & LD-250 Lightning Detection

I can vouch for the StormTracker. I got it started out our school along with Lightning/2000 software. The only problem I have had with it is configuring ranging with distant vs overhead storms.

The range of the strikes is always going to have some degree of error with a single sensor system. You need to triangulate to get those plotted perfectly. I recommend using it with NexStorm. They have a network called StrikeStar that utilizes other NexStorm customers using Boltek products. By buying the NexStorm software you get free access to the networked strike data. It also has some cool contouring of your strike data to make it look like a nexrad radar product almost. Lots of other neat features too.

I have looked at that software before but with my limitations with departmental budgets and all, we are limited to what we already have. Plus I am out of of here in a month.

Either way, the software is still fairly decent after putting in many hours with storms in different directions to make it somewhat accurate. I enjoyed doing my work with the Boltek detector and even did research with it.
