When I first moved to Texas flooding was common. Rivers and lakes were full, but times change and now we had a devastating drought. It's raining here south of San Antonio today, 1.7 inches in the gauge so far and a Flash Flood Watch has been issued. Here is a great look at the past flooding in Texas, some of the more recent events I witnessed. http://www.mysanantonio.com/150year...-that-swamped-Texas-6123342.php#photo-7626161

I agree Gene! Seems like it's been a long while since we've had a good rainy winter / spring season. I'm encouraged by what I am seeing so far this year!

I checked out the article, I remember Oct. 18, 1998. I was working as a dispatcher for Castle Hills Police and Fire Depts. We had 18 inches of rain that day, Major rescues called for mutual aid from many depts all over San Antonio. And I also remember hearing about when the Canyon Lake overflowed the Spillway after the area had received 34 inches of rain in a week. It was really hard to watch since I was living in California at the time and had spent much of my late teens in that area.
