• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

To compare to fplowman's 2007 poll, I'm rerunning this poll to see how things have changed.

So tell us:
Who here is using HD these days? Who wants to or is going to soon?

Here is where the previous poll stood as of this posting:
Code:
I am currently using an HD cam 19 30.16%
I want to upgrade to HD 23 36.51%
No thanks, HD ain't for me yet. 21 33.33%

I just recently purchased a Sony HDR FX7. Its taken a while to afford the move into entry level HD, but i hope to put it to use soon. So far i havent taken it out of the box other then to get to know how to use it. Judging by the little bit ive played with it, im very happy with its performance. The $1999 price tag will hopefully show in video quality. I tried with a small standard def camera and it just wasnt for me.

I got a Sony HDR-HC5 in 2007 and got a Sony HDR-HC1 to use as a dashcam last year. They both suck in low light but I don't have the cash right now to upgrade to an FX1 or 1000.

It's going to be a few years at least until I upgrade to hi-def. I am going to be a Dad soon and I also bought a nice condo earlier in the year. Currently I am using a Sony DCR-HC90 miniDV camcorder. Although its not high def, it gets the job done especially in low light and it shoots in 16:9 mode. I Don't think I will be doing as much chasing in the Plains for the next several years. If its the weekend however, I will be fair game to chase the Midwest. :)

I have been using the Sony FX-1 and Sony HC-3 since 2007. The HC-3 is garbage after sunset and for any lighting, but the FX-1 is great! I am editing my highlights for this year and will try to put it on blu-ray.

Skip, nice setup on the domecam. I made my own version with a bullet camera. I think your's will win big time for picture quality. I only used mine as a webcam.

Well, the poll closed...I guess for lack of activity, I don't remember setting a close date on this one. However, and interesting poll compared to the previous poll I quoted above. It certainly is clear that we are moving toward a completely HD market and hobby. I guess the next poll should be what format of HD is everyone using. Have to consider doing that thread/poll after Christmas time (as it likely will shift between now and then, skewing the results.

Honorable mention- for stills this works ok (wife wanted it)

I'm saving up something more professional though.
