Could someone please tell me what the official F-rating was of the long-track tornado that started near Boys Town and tracked south of Channing towards Dumas? I'm working on 2007 stats and for whatever reason I couldn't get the Storm Data pdf thing to open and I'm too busy to troubleshoot it. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Shane, perhaps one of the biggest difficulties on that tornado was just how out over open country it was? Ironically, I just posted a thread in the B&G and that tornado, or series of tornadoes which occurred that day, is one I just finished up editing. If you need any video from that day for research, etc., just PM me and I can burn you a DVD.

Shane, from this source, looks like they rated it EF-1, a different report mentions it hit a barn. Tornado #2 was the more damaging EF-2 tornado that actually hit Cactus: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ama/april21_2007/LBBPNSAMA.240157

TORNADO #1: CHANNING TORNADO
RATED EF-1 (MAX WINDS 86-109 MPH)
PATH LENGTH: 18 MILES
MAX WIDTH: 1/2 MILE WIDE
TORNADO BEGAN: 6:51 PM...ENDED AT 7:27 PM
0 FATALITIES / 0 INJURIES

THE TORNADO ORIGINATED IN NORTHEAST OLDHAM COUNTY ABOUT 4 MILES WEST
OF BOYS RANCH AND MOVED NORTH NORTHEAST. THE TORNADO CROSSED HIGHWAY
385 AT THE OLDHAM/HARTLEY COUNTY LINE...CROSSED HIGHWAY 354 2 MILES
EAST OF CHANNING...AND FINALLY DISSIPATED ACROSS EXTREME EASTERN
HARTLEY COUNTY ABOUT ONE MILE SOUTH OF HIGHWAY 87. NUMEROUS POWER
POLES...FENCES...AND A FEW HIGHWAY SIGNS SUSTAINED DAMAGE.

Thanks guys!!! I guessed it at F2 but looks like I need to go change that LOL.

That was the first tornado I saw that day unfortunately I was a few miles away and the contrast was poor but it was an awsome storm/tornado and I did get it on video!:D Was talking to Josh Richardson on the phone (he was doing some nowcasting for me) and he got to hear my reaction when I crossed a hill and saw the tornado form! lol:p I was driving a white, 4 door Chevy Cavalier incase anyone saw me :)

Still kicking myself not to sit tight that day in Dumas. Dang RUC nailed it and we ended up getting hammered by baseballs as we watched the Tulia tornado leave the north side of town - yikes.

Don't be to hard on yourself Brian you did get to see baseball sized hail and an EF3 tornado!:)

I was the one that called that one in if we are talking about the same one. Alot happened that night with Cactus getting ripped up. The wall cloud hung around for about 10 minutes showing lots of rotation. the rotation tried to come down a few times before it actually made it. It was weak at first. There was no damage since it was out in the middle of nowhere so it would be very hard to rate. By the time it was about 1/2 mile from out location it was a very strong stovepipe and very well defined. The base was probably 200-25 feet wide. I have some of it on disk still if you want a copy. It was not a great recording since I did not have enough time to get my regular equipment loaded. Had a interview in LBB that morning and was called out to "play" that afternoon by NWS. I am not 100 percent sure but I think that was the same cell that eventually got Cactus. Not the same tornado just the same cell. I think there was over 20 sighted that night in our area.

That evening was pretty damn dark in Dumas since they had no power at all. We barely had enough fuel to get to Borger.
We started out about 12 miles west of 4-way. Perfect location that day.

I think I do but to be honest I was pretty busy hyper ventilating as I watched the Channing tornado!:D Still kicking myself for not getting closer, the contrast sucks in my video but I still saw that awsome tornado and the storms great structure!
