• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Wanted to make a quick post to let you all know about some truly amazing placefiles my friend and chase partner, Brandon Vincent, has recently finished. These are hands down the best sfc ob placefiles out there and they are completely free! There are multiple iterations depending on exactly what you are looking for. Check out www.redteamwx.com/grlevelx.html for the complete list along with some superb color tables for GR2-3 or GREarth. Happy chasing!

Edit: we are having some issues with the radar location dependent placefiles not loading properly. Brandon is working on a fix. The state based versions are working fine.

After much gnashing of teeth on Brandon's part he has rewritten the code for the obs from the ground up to make them run much faster. The issue is completely fixed so please give these placefiles another try! Now all we need is some freaking weather!

I'm no programming expert, so I am confused by how I am supposed to use this page (http://www.redteamwx.com/grlevelx.html#metar) to get the surface obs placefiles I am looking for, for my GRLevel3. Any help would be appreciated!

Just as you would any other. Copy the URL that you want, and put it into the placefile manager on GR3.

I'm not sure Joey's sarcasm makes it through all the time. These are far and away the best placefiles for METAR reports available. And they're free (but I'm sure most users have chipped in a few bucks now and then...) It appears there is an issue with the KS mesonet file, hopefully that's been reported somewhere before people go off on a whiny rant.
