• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

You know how ESPN has websites for certain regions/cities, i.e.
www.espnDallas.com, www.espnBoston.com, www.espnLosAngeles.com...
Well I think The Weather Channel should have its website devoted to different regions of the country, i.e. www.weather.com/newengland , www.weather.com/westcoast , www.weather.com/south , and www.weather.com/midwest

It would be a full page rundown of weather, highlights, videos, forecasts, etc... for a certain region of the country

Now you might say this would be infringing a little bit or competing with the NWS but who cares, TWC is private sector, they can do it, and besides NWS prob could use some good competition

But then TWC would have to narrow in on the specifics of each region other than their normal generalities of "it's rainy in the southeast, it's cold in the northeast and hot out west. Now, on to P. Allen Smith for some gardening tips". haha

But in all seriousness, yeah I think it WOULD benefit their website and online traffic. I just think they need to do something about their TV broadcasts...

I don't know if they would get the return on the investment. The staff, resources, etc. needed to get down to a more specific area may not be worth it, especially considering weather related websites are some of the most popular. Local newspapers and TV news usually fill that market for the most part.

Have them cover the weather like they used to.

How would breaking it up into sub-regions drive more traffic (creating additional revenue)?

I've found that most of my family get their forecast from news websites (CNN, Fox, local news, etc). I think the main driver of TWC's traffic (20M-30M monthly uniques) is the domain name itself, and the constant pushing of it on their TV channel.

Never happen. TWC is interested in ratings, not providing good weather coverage. And it's obvious the past several years providing weather coverage doesn't sell.

Haha, nobody cares until something big happens. They get a lot of attention during storms but you can only watch the weather on the 8's so many times before your bored out of your mind. There new shows are interesting and the only thing that really annoys me is when they show movies.

I am very unhappy with the movies. They dabbled with it back in the fall and it only lasted a few weeks. They played the movie twice in a row then went on to Storm Stories or some kinda bull until about 4am. So, Fridays at 8pm, I had to find something else to put on my tv. I admit, I grew up with TWC on my tv all the time and I still do it to this day. It is better than anything else on all the 900 million channels I recieve..NASA TV is a good back up but I digress..

When I noticed they stopped the movie night, I was relieved. Then just a couple weeks back...they brought it back and NAMED IT! It is less annoying because they run the movie twice and then on air coverage is back at 1am. I guess they saw how much it sucked and tried to resurrect it..I doubt it sticks around long..

This thread is about the weather.com website, not The Weather Channel TV programming, lets get back on track.

Though we all know TWC programming is crap, the website has some great potential if the minds behind it think more outside the box
