A cheap camera site

I always use the reseller ratings site before I buy anything. A lot of camera sellers are using grey market or non US cameras and selling them as US cameras. Then they send you an email saying you need to call them where they will high pressure sell you into buying accessories or charge you an extra few hundred dollars for the US version of the camera you want. If you refuse they either cancel your order or say it is not in stock. Someone once told me if it seems to good to be true is usually is.

Personally I would consider getting it from a brick and mortar store. If you have problems you can bring it back to the store...and you can usually get some kind of warranty to CYA. On Ebay good luck getting any kind of response if something breaks in a few months.

There are several surefire online stores for cameras: Amazon (Not marketplace), B&H Photo, and Adorama. You won't have any trouble with them, and you're unlikely to find legitimately lower prices elsewhere.
For what it's worth, I've also done business with Cameta through eBay and 47th Street Photo through Amazon without any issues.

I have also had extremely good dealings a few times with Cameta both on Ebay and direct contact. I have found they will offer better pricing if you call them direct and not go through Ebay. Maybe only because I have bought a few times or maybe because they don't pay the Ebay fees. It is worth checking in my opinion.

Yeah that is a good idea. I will still be a little while before I am able to buy one I only have a couple of hundred saved up, so I will have time to look around.

Same deal, I bought my Pentax K10 kit there from Cameta Camera on Ebay and just ordered the grip yesterday. The only problem I had with the original order was that they sent the wrong speed memory card, they promptly refunded some money to make up for the difference. They seem to be well priced and reputable with new USA warranty stuff. They do sell some demos and the likes but they had those auctions marked explicitly as demo units or factory reconditioned.

Well Cameta does not seem to sell camcorders, only still cameras. I really liked their prices and from what I hear here the service is great too, so I will defiantly buy my still camera from them this summer. I found the camcorder that I wanted on Adorama for a decent price, so I will probably go with them once I get my money saved up.

Thanks for all the help!

if I was in the mkt for a resale camera personally I would shop here first; talk in the photo community here is that they fine-tooth comb their resale stuff before selling. I have not purchased equip there but am a 12-yr customer of their prolab and their cust svc too is first rate; they treat me like a friend. http://www.tempecamera.biz/ They have a large sales building as well and a longstanding reputation aound here as one of the best; and can ship.
