Without any watch boxes in southern or eastern NE last night, we had three concurrent tornado warnings in southern NE and several thunderstorm warnings in the Omaha metro area. One of these storms fired near Fremont, went over OAX and plowed through the metro area. This storm dropped a small swath of large hail through the center of town. When I first heard the noise, I ran out to the garage to find it raining golf balls. By the time I got the Yukon put away, it was dumping baseballs and better. This lasted for about ten minutes. I measured 3.25" to 3.5" on the biggest stones that fell into the front yard.

i was surprised at the size of the stones too. these storms blew up when the llj kicked in right about sunset. it was kindof funny bc the day before the spc had us in a slight risk with 30% hail, and 5% tornado and not a single storm occurred, but this day there wasn't even a slight risk at all. i live up in nw omaha, and only had maybe dime to nickel sized hail. i was out shooting lightning just across the river near the morman bridge and saw no hail at all. definitely a narrow path. here are some links to some pics off of the local news channels

I stayed just north of where the reported large hail was. Sounds like there might be some decent hail sales, if you are looking for a new car! ;)
