There was some severe flooding here in Amarillo, with some parts of town getting 10-12" of rain. The airport was closed due to water flooding the basement and parts of the terminal. Numerous water rescues happened last night all over town, especially along I-40 underpasses. I got about 6" here at my place.

I left Amarillo late yesterday and somehow beat the road closures east of town on my way home. Along US 60 was already in pretty bad when I passed by at 10 last night. I went to see how much water had made it downstream in the Red Fork of the Red River (Palo Duro Canyon) south of Claude this afternoon. It actually looked like a river... for once.

The first storms that popped up along one of the many drylines floating around actually had incredible structure. Giant wall cloud that was basically scrapping the ground. But with so many outflows being released from other storms, all of them weakened as quick as they fired. This storm was NE of Amarillo.
