Very interesting night this evening! Caught the cell coming out of
Osage/Pawnee Co. OK just as it went severe warned and was treated to a very nice show.
Drove up HWY 48 to just south of HWY 412 with just an idea of shooting some lightning pics. The lightning was very intense and before I knew it, the storm had really ramped up. Watched the wall cloud go from nothing but ragged scud to wrapping up and getting really tight. Not sure how low LCL's were but at one point the wall cloud looked like it was basically ground scrubbing! Not long after, it really started to tighten up I saw "something" on the southern end of the wallcloud and just pointed the Nikon in that direction and hit the shutter....ended up getting a very nice shot of the entire wall cloud and the funnel (could not believe Tulsa did not have a tornado warning on it!!!)
The funnel lasted about 7 minutes and I could not tell if it was on the ground or not due to the trees.
What a night though....great storm with no expectations other than getting a few lightning shots!!

The storm that passed bewtten Stillwater and Tulsa really increased in size and intensity and was still somewhat close to town, so I headed out to try to get a few lightning pics.

As this huge storm moved off west of Tulsa, I then noticed some flashes coming from my left (north). As this thing got closer, I could start to make out some features...."Is that....STRUCTURE?!?!!?!!" Sure enough, the next storm in line had a nice rotating updraft.

I sure wasn't expecting much out of these things, but they were awesome to look at. Especially this smaller short lived storm on the western fringes. Even more impressive was the lightning shooting out of the side of the updraft and hitting nearly the same spot.
