As Public Relations Officer for the University of South Alabama Student Chapter of the American Meteorological Society, I would like to take this opporunity to invite everyone to the 6th Annual Southeastern Coastal and Atmospheric Processes Symposium (SeCAPS) in Mobile, Alabama.

Dates are Feb 27-28, 2009 on the beautiful campus of the University of South Alabama.

Keynote speakers as of current are:

Dr. Lance Bosart
Dr. Neil Frank
Mr. Ron Holle

There will be a panel discussion as there was last year which was a huge success. This year the Panel will be made up of National Weather Service MICs.

These include:

John Gordon, MIC NWS Louisville, KY
David MCShane, MIC NWS Mobile, AL/Pensacola, FL
Ken Graham, MIC NWS Baton Rouge/New Orleans, LA
Alan Gerard, MIC NWS Jackson, MS

The topic will be: "The Future of Operational Meteorology"

This year will also feature, for the first time, a Severe Weather Forecasting Exercise (a mini-workshop so to speak) by a Storm Prediction Center Forecaster.

Registration is open and the cost to attend this year, like every year prior is FREE! I'd like to thank the University of South Alabama Student Government Association and the Coastal Weather Research Center for making this possible!

We can also accept a few more talks. If you would like to submit an abstract, all nfor can be found at http://www.southalabama.edu/meteorologyclub/secaps/papers.html
