Tyler Costantini and I intercepted some late night/early morning severe storms that affected Southeast Kansas and probably one of the most intense severe storms I've been in. We ran into very large hail up to baseball size on Highway 160 east of Columbus, KS. Then we got on another storm further north and got to experience a very intense downburst with another round of large hail and winds of up to 70MPH.

I got video of it and will post it later on.

I left Wichita during the early afternoon hours and documented a storm that tracked from Kiowa County, Kansas down into Harper County, Oklahoma. Another cell developed to the south and eventually dominated the northern cell. These storms were high based (owing to large temperature/dewpoint spreads) and briefly became supercells producing hail, blowing dust, one gustnado, and a funnel cloud. When I rolled back into Wichita around 11:30 PM I noticed the lightning off to the east. Those storms looked fun from what I saw on radar! I wish I could have gone out and documented that activity as well, but I had to work at 6:30 this morning. I saw you guys on SN (Joey) and it looked like you two were on the most intense cell in Kansas at that time. I can't wait to see the video! The KS/OK storm footage I shot can be viewed here: http://thestormreport.com/blog/2008/06/june-22nd-2008-oklahoma-funnel-cloud/
