6/12/2010 REPORTS: TX/OK/NM/KS

HP Storm Structure East of Dumas

Developing storm west of Dumas and south of Channing. Initially the updraft base was high. Low cumulus developed under the base and eventually rose into the storm base, resulting in a lowered storm base eventually.

Still west of Dumas, as the storm became rooted in the boundary layer:

It's interesting how similar the storm structure was on June 12, 13 and 14.

Didn't fair so well on this day. Got a late start and ended up in Spearman, TX with some insane wind and very heavy rain. Spearman got flooded very quickly. After that, I ended up in Stinnett and watched a beautiful shelf cloud roll in from the west. I met J. R. Hehnly and we chatted for a while. After the shelf passed, I made my way back home. Everything was so outflow dominant on this chase, but a good shelf cloud is nice once in a while.
