Was on the storm that produced the only tornado of the day. started the Day off in Fort Collins and headed to our target Miles City. Watched a few nice cu blow up south of Miles City around 6ish only to witness the cap kill them. Decided to wait around for the shortwave to spin through and it finally did around dark...:P Approached the storm from Terry to be greeted by a nicely lit storm. Finally got under the meso but didn't see the tornado. Once we watched the wall cross the Hwy we decided to drop back towards Terry bc we knew the road network would suck trying to keep up so we got some backside shots. Witnessed the cell split and it was quite amazing! Another great day of chasing in my book!

Tcu that tried right at Happy Hour!

5/27/10 REPORTS: MT

Had a fun but frustrating chase in Montana on Thursday. After storms struggled during the mid-evening hours, a monster went up right at sunset and produced a weak tornado which I missed... Only about 10 miles from my target for the day. Argh! Looking at my pictures from the storms though, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. The failed storm pictures are from between Circle, MT, and then the monster pics are from in and just East of Glendive, MT.

The full photo album is on WxChaser.com

Same supercell, south of Circle, MT. Facing west from Glendive, MT at about 3Z. I'm not at all upset not having been intimately under a storm if I can end the day with structure shots like these from afar.
