3500 SBCAPE on the mesoanalysis, with not much vertical shear at all...and rock hard updraft towers around the area led me to believe there could be some pulse severe cells...
i saw this storm forming in northern lee county MS and it began to move SW, and it had some serious cloud to ground lightning with it...i looked at the radar and saw there wasnt a severe storm warning with it, but it had 60+ DBZ on the radar, and had 35+ VIL...
a look at the structure of the storm told me it was probably severe...
before the warning was out, i got in the truck and went W on hwy 78...before i got there, i could see the look of the updraft, and tell it was severe...i could physically see where the precip core was...it went from no rain, to pounding rain in a second flat...and the wind got really intense...it almost blew me off the road at one time, and everyone on highway 78 near the 371 exit was pulled over to the side of the road...
the winds were probably around 50 mph...werent severe at the time...
i observed minor street flooding and people, like i said were stopped all over the highway, and MDOT crews were all over...i was looking for the hail, but i never found it...just alot of heavy fat rain and strong winds...
look at this rain foot...i edited the image to pull it out more...thats over west tupelo...where two wind damage reports come in...you could see it moving in real time, and i just knew there were some potentially serious winds occuring with it...the picture is looking S...
and as soon as the storm began...less than an hour later it was gone...
broke a sweat for a moment...i had fun going in and out of the core...it was pretty cool, especially because i told my girlfreind it looked like a pulse-severe setup today...and sure enough...there were pulse severe cells...
