Well, it was good to finally get out of the house for the first time since March 8th. I left Amarillo around 2 and fiddled around with convection around Tulia for a while but didn't really see much except for rain and a lot of CG's. Headed east out of Tulia and got onto some better storms that were going up north of Silverton. I initially headed south out of Turkey for a few minutes, but decided to get on the stronger storms between Turkey and Brice. I got about 6 miles south of Brice on Hwy. 70 and thought I might get into some pretty good sized hail since the VIL was off the chart. I think the VIL at times approached 70-80, but only small and very sporadic hail ever occurred in the area I was located. I was very surprised to say the least as I was getting ready for a hail barrage!

It was a nice drive on the way back to Amarillo as I got some nice pics of the sunset and some mammatus from the decaying anvils. All in all, a nice chase with hopes of many more to come!

Got out and did my first chase of the season...finally! Not that it was a good setup, but it was something and the route promised a get together with the guys for beer and German food in Fredricksburg so yep, I was in. Basically we (David Douglas, Randy Denzer, and myself) caught a cell near Junction, Tx which produced a wallcloud. We were very happy with ourselves as this is much more that we expected. Full account. video, and all pictures here:

Yesterday was not much of a chase, but I was able to get rid of some bugs in my equipment. Also was able to aim my new lens at a storm finally. I got hailed on for about 5 minutes SW of Panhandle, TX so it ended by a good day for a local overall. I hadnt realized how many abandoned houses litter the TX Panhandle landscape. Sure does make it easy to really add to a photo of a storm.

Chased with Dann Cianca, Jason Burns and Ryan Kushner south and south east of Amarillo. Intercepted a few cells, some of which went severe warned for a little while. Great structure out there yesterday and was definitely what we needed after Monday's bust in KS...

These taken at sunset near Plaska, TX SE of Amarillo. Very fun day despite the long drive from and back to Denver!

Will have a full write up with more pics and some video on my site later tonight or tomorrow morning...
