I had a good storm chase day in eastern New Mexico yesterday, even though the storms I chose turned out not to be the oneS that produced tornadoes. The first picture is of an LP supercell that dropped large hail southeast of Santa Rosa around sunset. The next two are from a more intense and long lived supercell that formed farther north and tracked east. North of Newkirk, I caught some good structure and found a number of 2-inch hailstones on the ground after the storm passed (next 2 pictures). And I also found a swath of deep hail on US 84 just south of the Sumner Lake State Park turnoff from yet another supercell. I intercepted 4 all told. I will eventually get a full report with lots more pictures posted, but it may be a while as this is a busy week.

Noticed a 700mb wave showing up on the HRRR the night before as well as some minisupercells in Southern Oklahoma on the reflectivity. An MCV over Southern Oklahoma from earlier storms provided enough spin for some mini sups and a tornado right along the warm front near Bokchito Oklahoma. A Saturday in late April in Oklahoma and we were one of only 3 chasers I know of that saw the tornado.

We essentially drove into it at the end as it was nothing more than a little dust whirl. The noise it made was quite impressive.

Great catch, Ben! I should have included OK and TX in the thread title. Mods, can you add those states?

I have now completed my writeup of my chase in New Mexico. You can read the full report at https://www.johnefarley.com/chase42525.htm

In the meantime, here are a couple more pics, now that I have had time go through them all:
