I had zero expectations for anything but maybe weak storms on this day and chasing was not even on my mind. I was at home when I got a call from my chase partner. His girlfriend swore there was a tornado warned cell over her neighborhood in Centennial, CO. Slightly skeptical, I checked radar, and sure enough it was true - only ten minutes old. This is right in my backyard, so I immediately went out on the deck to look at the sky. Towering updrafts to the east, while I had been snoozing! I had totally counted the day out. We made a split decision to chase, and followed a beautiful developing cell out towards Limon. It became evident quickly that storms were not going to stay isolated, and squall lines were going to ruin the fun. Regardless, I took advantage and captured perhaps my favorite photo from this year of one of the more beautiful shelf clouds I've ever seen on a squall line. It took me a long time to stitch this panorama due to sloppy camera technique (software was not able to auto stitch the whole image) but it still came out great I think.
