Skip Talbot and I chased SD with initial target of Sioux Falls to Watertown area. Did not witness the reported tornado but saw amazing structure. What a chase!

Target was Britton, SD. Storm went up pretty much right over town. First sup was kind of a rainy mess in close with a wet wrapping RFD which kept cutting my visual off on cycles. In hindsight, wish I had just stayed east of it. What a beautiful storm! Gave on on that cell and headed back into MN and waited for the southern cell to come across. That one made the day for me.

Video frame from just southeast of Ortonville, MN. This is likely the circulation which produced the strong EF1 in Roberts county on the border and the wind damage in Ortonville.

Lots of danglies hanging off the edge.

Once it moved into Chippewa county it really wrapped up again. Always a challenge to stay up in the notch of those southeast moving storms.

West of Raymond, MN it briefly produced this. Lasted about 2 minutes and that was all she wrote on this storm.

Did get hit by a 77 mph gust west of Cosmos, MN on the way home. Nice wind shift also from NW to NE which was enough to trigger a TVS and make some power poles along highway 7 lean over. Overall was very fun day. Glad so see some of the structure of 2012 made it into our area!

I'm a little late to the party here, but June 17th was a pretty good chase day photographically speaking. Finally got some nice HP structure to end what was a horrible chase season for the central/northern plains. Here are a few of the shots I got that evening.

Was planning on heading out to ABR this day and saw towers trying to go up on the MN/SD border. When ABR's storms started popping fast and furious, we reasoned that things would quickly get messy in that area and decided to play with the more discrete storms near us. We ping-ponged through a few cells encountering 1" hail and witnessing several funnels. Eventually, a tiny little cell by Kerkhoven, MN produce a very pretty funnel/tornado. We never got ground confirmation, and the NWS is checking with farmers to see if there was any damage, but the funnel we saw was 9/10ths of the way to the ground - you can't get much closer than that.
