I started the day in Havre, MT, initially watching for convection south towards the Great Falls area. I again chased with Steve Polley, Tom Williams and Kholby Martin. We headed towards Great Falls, MT during the early afternoon when it was obvious that initiation was imminent southeast of there over the Lewis and Clark National Forest area. Due to poor road options south of the Missouri River, we chose to hang back north and let the cell work its way towards the Bearpaw Mountains. We opted to position ourselves along the Hwy 87 corridor near Big Sandy, and caught an incredible supercell that produced some great structure, impressive lightning and a tornado as well. A few lower quality JPEG images are attached as stills from the NX5U video camera.
