Looks like we have initiation NW of Loveland/Windsor, CO.

A nice CU field around Cheyenne. SPC has issued a MD for the area, but no watch yet.

Good luck to all out today!

EDIT: Crikey I jinxed the Windsor stuff and the stuff around Cheyenne hasn't caught fire yet either. Storm NE of Casper looks good, but it should not be in a tornado-producing environment (reverse storm psychology).

It looks like the cap is killing all convection trying to move off the higher terrain at this time. It's odd - ml cape has dropped down to less than 1000 j/kg in the last hour in northern CO. It is also odd that the watch likely MD has failed to produce a watch.

nice storm now beginning to take shape just north of Fort Collins. appears to be rotating on GR3

edit: just went severe warned

double edit: nevermind

700mb temps. still appear to be quite warm over SW NE, NE CO and SE WY. I think the best play is in NW NE where the storms are already established in eastern Wyoming. 700mb temps. are cooler in this area where the storms to the south are still struggling with the CAP. The RUC hold the cap firmly in place through the rest of daylight. The storms in Platte and Niobrara counties in WY appear to be heading towards each other and may create a mess shortly. Maybe the cell in Platte county can move more easterly or even slightly east/southeast and get ahead of everything else. Some rotation has just showed up on the Platte county cell northwest of Fort Laramie as I type this.

It had a very nice couplet about 20 minutes ago like you mentioned Rob. The storm is now moving more east/southeast now. It looks like it will stay away from the storm to its north and be isolated for a while. This storm looks like the best chance of putting down a tornado. I would expect it to be tornado warned shortly.

That's freeway speed. I can't imagine something possibly on the ground moving that fast.

Apparently, SPC believes this cell will live for several more hours considering their most recent MD for much of Nebraska.

EDIT: New update clocks forward motion at 20 mph. Perhaps the original motion was exaggerated by the computer.
