Also- I caught this on video and have about 6-8 frames. This is frame 2 I'd like any advice on how to salvage the quality, this is a screenshot...

Ride Along for Photography Book - Illinois

Hi stormchasers! Im a documentary photographer out of Chicago and am really interested in getting into stormchasing. I'm from the west coast, where we have very little weather, so tormados and storms have always fascinated me! I have very little experience, but was wondering if any chasers in...

Ride Along for Photobook - Illinois

Hi stormchasers! Im a documentary photographer out of Chicago and am really interested in getting into stormchasing. I have very little experience, but was wondering if any chasers in the area would be willing to take me out and let me ride along and document the process. I may be getting a...

Upgrading my photography gear . . . and how you did - too?

An overhaul of early 2010 equipment was now in order. Letting a vital skill lapse, such as photography when being otherwise left to idleness in late Fall and Winter, needs to be remedied. I need to improve on every photographic level so that this Spring I may be ready for the coming chase...

These are my first serious attempts at capturing lightning. The camera used was a Lumix ZS60. I didn't do any post-processing on them.

Photographing Super Cells / Best Angle

I'm not certain how to ask this question. My efforts this season will be directed to photographing super cells, hopefully from outside the storm. I have little information and no experience doing this. Where is generally the best place to begin in relation to the hook I might see on radar. My...

    Old Newbie

Greetings all, I'll be on the road looking for super cells as soon as I know what one is. My object is to photograph with stills or time lapse, and make videos of those magnificent visions of creation. I'm a bit passionate about it. When I was a boy, I spent an evening I'll never forget...

Drones and their Role in Weather

I've thought about this subject a lot recently, as drones will soon be as common as point-and-shoot cameras, and there's much to be discussed about them. For example: 1) How ethical is it to use drones to obtain tornado footage then sell it and claim it as your own, even if the drone was not on...
