This is the official thread for sunsets. You got a kick ass sunset? Post it in here and bathe in the likes! Let's start this off with one of my favorite sunsets I ever captured; the Annular Solar Eclipse of May 20, 2012. Taken in Hereford, TX!

For me, my favorite sunsets to shoot are the ones that we get during the winter months after a fresh snowfall. They always seem to be the best and most vibrant with colors. This is one of my favorites I shot during the midst of the 2014 winter. Besides, during the winter months, there isn't too much else to shoot.

Lots of great sunsets in here! Man I wish we'd have had a nice almost-to-the-horizon view of that annular eclipse out here, Marcus—that's a very cool shot.

There were some excellent sunsets down in the deserts a couple months ago. These are a couple from the Phoenix Sonoran Desert Preserve—




Sometimes, looking east at sunset presents some excellent views—this is a shot of the full moon, Belt of Venus and Earth Shadow rising behind Sunset Crater a couple weeks ago—



And then on the way home from Oklahoma a couple days ago we stopped in Glenrio—an old Route 66 ghost town on the border of Texas and New Mexico—

Amazing shots! Earlier this month it seemed like we were knocking it out daily with Midwest sunrise/sunset opportunities. These are from Shelbyville Illinois on the 14th and 15th. Per the 15th foreground, there was a minor ice shove occurring as result of a thin layer being blown onshore by gusty SW winds.

Considering there have not been very many convective opportunities so far for myself this year, I figured I'd dust the camera off for a sunset on the 1st of April. We had some big field fires earlier in the day so the sunset was quite orange looking and reminded me of one I'd see on a hot summer evening.
