Person struck by lightning while live streaming

Geez, sorry to hear about that and actually surprised it’s not a more frequent occurrence. Lightening is the one thing around storms that make my butt pucker....

Looking at the timestamp on the post, I also had tweeted from the same general area in the same general timeframe. I don't remember much lighting (there was some) and I don't remember any close strikes. I guess that just goes to show that it only takes one strike.

The person struck posted to Facebook saying she is home from the hospital and is sore. WFAA ch 8 is doing a story at 10 pm tonight on this.

Hope she recovers okay. A number of people struck by lightning have some long term aftereffects from it that are quite debilitating.

Glad to hear she survived, hopefully she'll make a full recovery.

When I'm videoing lightning (which is not very often), its usually not done from the porch or deck...but up on the roof where I can get a better view & be above allot of trees...

My brother was wearing sandals while chasing yesterday in Kansas. Just when he was about to get in the truck a bolt of lightning struck nearby. I was a little stunned when he said he got hit. The ground current burnt a couple of his toes. I also saw that the dominator got struck yesterday.too.IMG_4400.jpeg

Glad to read all involved with the recent storm chasing related lightning encounters are alright!

These stories reminded me of Gene Moore's lightning strike while recording video of a developing tornado on May 23, 1981 east of the Oklahoma City metro region. I'm actually surprised storm chasers being directly/indirectly struck by lightning has not happened more often, certainly in recent decades, and was/is one of the primary concerns I've always had with a big metal tripod planted alongside the road.
