Damm I'm getting so Suspicious nowadays.
Anybody else get this email or know this person? Reason I'm suspicious is I have NO videos only images.

Dear John,

My Name is Natalie Forsythe I work for a UK based TV production company and we are developing a programme about Storm Chasers, and are in particular looking for people passionate about chasing lightning. I found your details on the website www.stormhighway.com and I was wondering if you'd be interested in having a chat later on today. I've seen on your fact sheet that you have 27 lightning videos/ photos! That's incredible. I wanted to ask you how you got into chasing storms? What's the biggest storm you've encountered? And if you are still chasing? If you'd be interested in answering any of these questions please email me back with a contact number today and I'll give you a call at a time that is convenient. Look forward to hearing from you,

Many thanks,

Natalie Forsythe

Maybe you can request a little more information like who she works for and such before you fork over your phone number. The fact you only have photos would not necessarily exclude you from a video program as photos provide the best lightning shots over video in my opinion. A lightning chaser as mentioned above would often be a still photographer...

Lately I have been receiving emails like yours and also emails about Purchasing a Link or banner space. What I have found is that close to 99% of the emails return address is not correct (email could not be sent error) or you just wont get a Reply from them.

In your case they did Include your name, from the emails I got all they included was the "severeidaho.com",etc.

Try Replying and get some more info to see if its legit. Could be a quick way to make a few bucks maybe. Good luck...

The Hotmail address is the point I would consider it suspicious from personal experience as anyone with any company affiliation usually has a company address not a free (spammers) email address. (no offense to anyone using free services for personal use)

And just for courtesy if she is legit you might remove her name from the address in your post and replace it with "edited" or something to keep her from being spammed. :)

I wouldn't reply. "She" should of used "her" work address [email protected].

One thing at least, you get emails about your hobby I get emails about my enhancing privates. :o

*Off Topic LOL * Yeah, I used to get a lot of that, after I never bought into it they must have decided I was enhanced enough down there and started sending me those Nigerian money scams (by the hundreds a week) hoping I would need a wallet or bank account enhancement since they decided I didn't need the other enhancement. LOL

On Topic. I still say its suspicious with the free email but a reply to that email for some kind of proof they are legitimate isn't too risky since they already have your email anyway....

John,
A quick search of that name returns numerous people with that name in the UK. Several on MySpace. The nearest I could find was a woman with this name associated with "Mandarin Studios Limited" in the UK back in 2006. Nothing else found worthwhile on a quick search through my databases.

Foreign film makers and media

I have been part of or around a number of media and filming companies from Europe. Almost if not all of them turned out nothing in the end. The German ones especially. I don't know the exact facts, but I think a few of the countries over there get grants easily to film, but they tend to fail in the production area. Payments for said time have also been hard to come by.

My personal preference is to work only with American based business where I have the laws and protections in place against scams and non-payers.

I too agree on the suspicious nature of the request. You typically know when a legitimate company is contacting you because they give a person's name, department, company name and address, website, and a phone number to call. Most communications are done on the telephone even if initial contacts are done via email.

For those who have ongoing/frequent media requests, I highly suggest getting your own 800 number. That always makes you look more professional, and less likely to get the scam jobs.

I received the same e-mail last week. I do not have images on Dans website nor do I know who this "lady" is.
I have worked with quite a few production companies across the pond and have not heard of these people. They got no response back from me!
