03/04/19 09:00: Yesterday, if you haven’t heard already, there was a flurry of tornado-like activity in the Deep South, including across southern AL, GA, and I believe possibly FL, and SC*. There are, as of 09:23, 23 confirmed deaths in AL. The number 36 as far as tornado reports, in AL, are being thrown around. Many are still missing. The sight of it, is being compared to the Pleasant Grove 2011 storm damage. Hundreds and hundreds of emergency officials have been dispatched. AL had a tornado emergency during this entire event, and is also under a State of Emergency (SOE) for flooding, tornadoes, and cold temperatures. I will link some information about this below.

Update 03/04/19 13:25- Live update from Lee County. Death toll is still 23. "Dozens" missing according to Sheriff. 60 victims were sent to local hospitals. Sirens were having issues. State of Emergency has been extended. Please stay out of the area. Emergency messaging went to, according to IPAWS. Briefing is over, the next one will be at 10am on 03/05/19. Lee Co EMA will update via Facebook if needed.

Update 03/04/19 15:00- Lee County HW Management has requested that citizens help clear debris.

"If you have debris as a result of the tornadoes please push your debris to the "right of way" no closer than 3 feet from the edge of the pavement. Please do not block your driveway or gutters. Please do not place debris around fire hydrants or any other utilities. Please separate your debris by vegetative (trees and limbs) and construction materials (wood, insulation, etc) and large appliances. Thank you for assistance and for "helping us, help you" with your debris removal."

I was alerting as it was happening yesterday. I was blown away from all the radar signatures and couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I am online a lot during storms but happened to be glued to the radar yesterday. Very sad all the destruction and loss of life. I kept the radar signature snapshots I posted on instagram/jaygoldbergphotography if anyone wants to see what it looked like on radar.

‘Together for Alabama’ Tornado Relief Telethon in co-op with the ABA on 03/06/2019 all day

Currently watching now. 23 just confirmed once again with many, many missing. These clusters were huge. If you go to the Lee county EMA website, there is a form that is able to be filled out for missing people, that in itself is scary. All of AL is in SOE. Don't really think I will sleep tonight lol

My father lost his house in the fires of N.Cal this past year. There everything was literally in place on the lots. I can’t imagine how you even start clearing all the destruction.

I can barely look at photos, so much destruction. Apologies for your father's home though. I can tell you, if you remember April 27, 2011, I see this event as a smaller more localized version of that.

Yes that was an INSANE outbreak, agree. Dad is alive and that was all that matters. I was there when the fire was still smoldering so I know exactly what they are going through...complete shock. I am watching this weekend as we have another set of Low pressure passing through us here in NCal which is what set up this event. Looking at the forecast I will be watching these systems. Might be more severe weather in the picture soon.

I will be too. Can’t believe that there was a TD Emergency. Apparently, it’s so many people who needed medical help, that they had to send people outofstate

Update 03/04/19 to 03/05/19 24:18- At least 23 deaths have been confirmed as of March 4, a figure officials expect to rise. All of these deaths occurred as a result of a single tornado, which touched down in Lee County, Alabama. At least two of the deaths occurred near the Alabama town of Beauregard.Three of the dead were children.60 patients were received at the East Alabama Medical Center; however, only four are still hospitalized. Many people are reported as missing.Drones with heat-seeking devices are currently searching for survivors, and ground teams had to wait for morning light to begin searching.

109 reports of severity, including damage ant tornadoes

A Lee County official described the damage as “horrific, devastating, and catastrophic”

EMA offices are piecing things together still. Alabama is still at SOE.
