I've added you Chris. Damn, you've photographed some beautiful storms and tornadoes.
Can't take personal credit for all of them. That's our combined group account with pics from Brett Wright, Brandon Sullivan, Brandon Goforth, and Josh Ward as well. But we all chase together in some way, so we all have similar photos ha! You have great pics yourself! I'm a fan!

Getting a feel for Instagram hashtag best practices seems like it will be kind of interesting.
#tornado leads to pretty random content and #supercell is apparently some sort of game app where people really like to post their screenshots.
On the other hand #stormchase #stormchasing are pretty clean.

I'm pretty active on instagram, but I use it more for social use so it's a pretty even mix between sky photos and family/daily life so it might not be everyone's cup. I rarely post what I'd consider any of my legitimate photography attempts from my DSLR on there for whatever reason. It's just the stereotypical straight from the cell phone social feed.

Depends on what you want. A lot of hashtags opens you up to a large audience, but also you'll likely have to weed through many of the "we can give you thousands of followers" spammers and junk stuff.

Instagram groups (IGers) are a great way to make connect and even meet other photogs that are in it for the fun of photography (and some professionals). I suspect there is a couple in the desert SW Jeremy.

I started but have on hold the @IGersWX (with a group hashtag #igerswx to be featured) group that was gonna be a central location for weather related IGers to be featured and find each other. With many things, as I've gotten busy, I have to wait and see if I can manage such a group.

You all have some really nice photos. I'm still trying to figure out which hashtags work for what. I've found that putting the model of your camera as a hashtag can be interesting since some folks are huge fans of certain cameras.

Thanks, Jason. I think I’m gradually finding groups with high quality feeds, like divine_deserts and weownthenights_az. I subscribed to IGersWX in case you get it going.

So far, for halfway decent signal to noise ratio, I started checking/using these—
#stormchasing
#stormchasers (a little better than #stormchaser)
#<state abbrev>wx
#severeweather
#<cameratype>

Wes, I’m glad you posted about this topic. It gave me an extra nudge to jump in. The interaction level is really good (apart from that weird clashofclans & get1000soflikes spam) and there is some great photography out there and from you and the folks on this thread.
