  • A website update occured last week that rendered some of the page display styles obsolete. 01-04/05-2021 Rime Ice Event: IL

During the first week of January 2021, an ice storm impacted West Central Illinois depositing 1/4" to 1/2" of ice across many locations. In the days following, a temperature inversion helped days of dense freezing fog and accumulating rime ice. In some areas across Southeast Iowa/Northwest Illinois, rime ice accumulated over 3 inches! Here are a few photographs I took during the event. All images were shot with A7RIII + 12-24mm F/2.8 GM, (100-400mm GM + 70-200mm F/2.8 GM + 1.4x TC).

Obviously not a storm you want to happen, but....those ice-covered trees make beautiful winter photos! Nice.

Yea, I live in Peoria, and I woke up to my truck encapsulated in ice. I ended up breaking off my key in the lock, and had to go in through the rear barn doors.
